how lurkers functions
as a character development-writing zombie based gpsl, lurkers simply doesn't function like an every day community. while we do encourage everyone to be active, friendly and welcoming there are key differences. your character's aren't online! there's no tinder, instagram or anything like that. so please read the following before setting up and joining so that you can effortlessly dive into the community after you're accepted.
journals & customs
journals should be in character with no underscores, excessive letters or numbers. your character journals are basically the source of all of you character's communication. your character's customs can be your character's talking face to face or over walkie-talkie. customs here are called a "frequency". suspend your disbelief here! these walkies are high grade and extend over far distances. you should have a friend's only post up as well as an out of character one. your in character one should just basically serve as a place for other characters to ask for your character's "frequencies" for their walkie-talkie discussions. you can host face to face conversations in your frequencies as well, if your characters are working together or in the same room/bunk. your out of character post should include basic information on your character. full name, age, hometown & when they arrived at the safe zone. (it was built august 6th, 2019).

intros, updates & activity
like any other place you join, lurkers will not live unless you're active. you have to post once a month with a narrative (no word count, can be a hover-narrative) or something else whether it's a photoshop creation, a playlist for your character that tells a little story about them or really, anything. you should also actively be commenting plot posts and/or group threads and other activities going on in the group. intros here are a little bit different than regular communities. obviously, your character isn't going to stand up in the middle of a crowd and ask what people's favorite colors are. instead, your character intro should be considered face to face conversation starters in the main hall of the safe zonethat anyone can respond to.

lurkers, not zombies
this gpsl adopts the walking dead zombie rules. the walking dead refers to zombies as walkers but here we refer to them as lurkers. zombie movies and zombie lore did not exist in the world before the outbreak. this means, your character has never seen a romero movie nor was the walking dead a real tv show. all zombie pop culture ceases to exist and this outbreak was brand new. everything you need to know about the lurkers is in the provided link. you can read about the community's safe zone here.

internet, entertainment, etc
the power is dead, the internet is gone. the current safezone does have generators. gasoline is still something that is attainable but they still do not waste the generators for unnecessary things like movies, tv, video games, etc. however, the safezones designate areas where people can turn their minds off. a large collection of board games, decks of cards, coloring books and crayons/markers/pencils/pens have been collected among other types of toys and games. safe zone leaders recognize the need for areas like this and consider these things to be acceptable for the safe zone scavengers to find when bringing supplies back.

 realistic points
there is a certain amount of suspension of disbelief here at lurkers but we also call for common sense on realism. injuries don't heal over night, your character won't fall from 3, 4, 5+ stories unscathed, characters don't have endless and infinite supplies of ammunition, water, food, medical supplies, etc. when in doubt of something, feel free to ask us for our opinions if it'd be unrealistic or not.

 no discord or wire, please
we will have a storyline community for all ooc plotting and discussion. discord and wire tends to leave people out and everyone can easily login and discuss everything there.
